Market adjustment fee is a scam that usually takes place with vehicles that go out of stock quickly. These are extra fees which car dealers add onto the price of certain types of popular vehicles. Since these vehicles are such a hot item, car dealers try to add this extra fee onto the vehicle purchase price. However, the truth is, no matter how popular a vehicle is, there is no reason for the consumer to have to pay above the MSRP.
Consumers can easily avoid this dealer scam if they never agree to pay more than the MSRP. By paying more than the MSRP, the vehicle purchaser is in reality saying that this type of dealer scam is okay and this should not be the case.

I recently purchased a new vehicle and truly believe I was scammed. I was paying attention to the monthly payment instead of the total cost. The sticker price was $23,300. When I got home with my new car I sat down to review the sales contract. The numbers just didn’t add up correctly. I was supposed to get a $1500 rebate, I traded in a car for another $1500 and I put $4000 cash down. My loan was for $20000. The following week I stopped in at the dealer to go over the numbers. They told me there was an addendum but it was sent into main office. They said they would get me a copy. The addendum was NOT on the car. A couple days later I stopped in for the addendum. It contained the following: 1.Handpainted pinstripes $295.00. 2. Factory mudguards $150.00, 3. USB cable $65.00. 4.CMVA $4995.00. They told me that CMVA is the Current Market Value Adjustment. When I picked up my copy of the addendum they had me sign it and I didn’t date it. Probably another mistake. Advice would be appreciated.
Thank-you,
Jeff
It appears that you have been tricked into purchasing a lot of extras without your knowledge. However since you did sign the documents it would be difficult to disprove much of it. If you are in California feel free to call my office but I don’t believe much can be done if you did sign all the documents.
I am so happy to read this. This is the kind of manual that needs to be given and not the random misinformation that is at the other blogs. Appreciate your sharing this best doc.
